FPCCI Appreciates Chairman FBR for Deferring Affidavit Requirement for Sales Tax Returns It is a Huge Achievement of the Business Community Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI
Karachi: Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI, has thanked Mr. Rashid
Mahmood Langrial, Chairman FBR, for listening to FPCCI's taxation proposals
and deferring affidavit requirement while filing for sales tax returns. Additionally,
tax filers must be treated with respect, self-esteem and facilitation.
Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh explained that the unnecessary condition was creating
resentment and harassing the company CFOs or companies' representatives. We
have received complaints from across Pakistan against the conditionally and the
issues it has created.
Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, SVP FPCCI, held a detailed meeting with Chairman
FBR and FBR's top hierarchy - along with offices bearers and senior members of
FPCCI - yesterday at Federation House to discuss burning issues vis-a-vis taxation,
customs and related topics.
Mr. Magoon made FPCCI’s point that Sales Tax Act 1990 already provides enough
provisions for responsible filing of returns and no additional affidavit or
declaration are necessary. Therefore, the apex body convinced FBR Chairman to
reconsider the requirements and defer it on an immediate basis.
It has been agreed that FPCCI and FBR will have further consultations and will
formulate concrete pro-business and pro-growth proposals in the benefit of
businessmen and the government alike.
