(Karachi P.R. 23rd Nov, 2016) Shaikh Khalid Tawab Sr. Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) congratulated the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef for successful organizing 9th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2016) being held from November 22 to 25, 2016 at Karachi and appreciated the efforts of Defence Export Promotion Organization, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Pakistan Armed Forces for organizing this event.
He stated that the exhibition gives an opportunity for sending positive signals and soft image and warm hospitality of Pakistani people to foreign countries. He stated this clearly shows the resilience of Pakistan’s economy that despite several challenges including ongoing war on terror and regional issues etc., the country\'s economy is performing well and has been gradually moving towards developing itself on sound and sustainable basis as witnessed from the fact that all the macroeconomic indicators are improving which are pointed out by Prime Minister of Pakistan in his speech and Pakistan is moving towards self-sufficient in energy production which will attract foreign and local investors to make investment in Pakistan as it provides a good opportunity to Pakistan to showcase its defence products as evident from the fact that Pakistan has received a large number of order for exports of Pakiani products e.g. Turkey has given order to buy 52 super-mushak aircrafts from Pakistan.
He added that the slogan of the Exhibition “Arms for peace” clearly reflects that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and is almost a self sufficient country in defence industry and as much offers wide opportunities to the participants for making joint investment and we are against the promoting of arm race in the region. He further added the participation of 418 companies from 34 countries, including 157 Pakistani firms reflects success of the exhibition which provides opportunity of collaboration for technological advancement and knowledge sharing with other countries. He hoped that International participants, exhibitors of IDEAS will be successful in developing new partnership with local suppliers and deepen existing ones, for the benefit of world in general and the region in particular.
